It’s November already! The drama year is barrelling to an end and so it’s time for another round of Drama Drinking.
As we head once again into the silly season, it seems a good time to propose some new recipes for our favourite (and “favourite”) 2022(ish) Korean dramas.

My Liberation Diary: Somaek
Let Mr Gu worship both you and the little green bottle. Whether it’s a cold winter night in a timeless rural area or a warm day in a big city, there’s nothing like this classic mix of soju and beer to help you through the painful journey of changing your life. Which just goes to show that two things from different worlds might work well together, even better than they do by themselves. Either that or life is something that shouldn’t be attempted sober.
Somaek Three parts soju Seven parts beer (preferably lager)
Extraordinary Attorney Woo: Virgin Daquiri
Want a cool and relaxing drink to while away the hours dolphin-spotting but don’t like alcohol? This classic daquiri can be made by substituting a non-alcohol white cane spirit for rum. Or mix it up and try a local Jeju Island fruit to create a regional version. Anything to keep cool while you’re hoping to say hello to your sea mammal friends. Or add rum afterwards to drink away your sorrows over the breakup.
Virgin Daquiri 3 tablespoons white cane spirit 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice 1 tablespoon simple syrup
If this day doesn’t require a drink, it will soon
Big Mouth: Mouse Trap
Want a soothing and refreshing drink to go with your drug-induced hallucinations? Or just an easy drinking cocktail to wash down your false imprisonment? Try a Mouse Trap. Whether it’s a crimelord in the mouse trap or you in the trap of mice, this is an all-seasons drink that can be sipped or slammed down fast while you’re on the run.
Mouse Trap 45ml of Triple Sec 60ml of Vodka 60ml of Orange Juice 90ml of Sprite 45ml of grenadine syrup
Mouse in the mouse trap
Little Women: Royal Orchid
Nothing says elegant simplicity like this Royal Orchid cocktail with a dash of blue curacao to make it easier to poison your enemies. If you’re the kind of person who knows what St Germain liqueur and gold rum are, then you are worthy of this sophisticated drink: whether you’re embezzling billions, bidding on exotic orchids in Singapore, or painting masterpieces under acid sprinkler. Better off in a cocktail glass, although a mouthwash bottle will do in a pinch.
Royal Orchid St. Germain liqueur 1 tablespoon gin 1 tablespoon gold rum 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice 2 tablespoons guava nectar or papaya juice Dash of Blue Curacao Garnish: lime wedges
Lesson 1: Don’t drink it if it’s blue
The Silent Sea: Raspberry mojito
If you’re the kind of person that googles things like, “what does space taste like?” then you’ll have discovered it apparently tastes like raspberries and smells like rum. So what could be better for watching humanity drown on the moon than this raspberry mojito. And if looks like blood and water, well, that’s just a bonus.
Raspberry mojito Raspberries Lime chunks Sugar syrup Mint leaves White rum Soda water
