As of this morning, Mum is once again in the emergency room of the Redlands Hospital. Mum was taken to emergency on Thursday because her almost-perpetual wheeze had resurfaced and she was having trouble breathing.
She was taken back to SDAAC on Friday and then came to Bunker Road yesterday to spend the weekend at home. The doctors believed her problem had come from a combination of inactivity and a new pain drug that was making her too woozy to take deep enough breaths.
They had her on a drip on Thursday to try to dilute the pain medication and that seemed to improve her. However, she remained extremely tired and drowsy and last night began wheezing badly.
At about 9pm, Dad and I rang an ambulance when she complained of chest pains and an inability to breathe. It seemed likely it was a combination of everything plus anxiety and a possible panic attack, but we thought it was better to err on the side of caution.
Mum is still in the emergency room this morning and they are running tests to see if they can find the problem. Mum has a history of blood clots on the lungs and, while previous chest xrays haven’t found a problem, it’s possible this is what is causing her trouble breathing.
Mum is scheduled to have her final surgery for her kidney stones on Wednesday but that seems in doubt if they can’t get this wheeze under control.
I’ll try to update the blog again this afternoon
