Cooking classes

Both occupational therapy and speech therapy are more than just about learning and re-learning skills: both also include socialisation. A right-hemisphere stroke can have a significant impact on communication (I’m doing up a blog post on this at the moment and will publish soon) so organised social interaction is an extremely important therapy. Mum often  had a café visit with other patients at RAS and she always looked forward to it.

As part of Mum’s therapy at SACU, she’s been doing a cooking class. Of course, a cooking class involves talking and eating and so Mum’s pretty happy with this particular “therapy”. One of her therapists sent me this photo of her, presumably post-cooking and onto the eating.

Mum always did love cooking.

Thanks Gen, your mum is one of the best cooks I know, so am so pleased she is enjoying the “therapy”. Sandy
