Mum had a very special Easter Sunday yesterday. SACU had approved a leave pass (or “parole”) for Mum; not just for Easter Sunday but also for her sister’s birthday. She was picked up by a taxi at 10:30am and went to Aunty Deirdre’s house for a Greek style lamb lunch.

Mum, of course, loves lamb but was also inspired by the trip to the Greek Isles last year. Uncle Warren cooked a superb roast and Deirdre a selection of hot and cold Greek-style vegetables. My cousin, Geoff, and his family Marie and Elaina were there as well as Marie’s mum, Olga, and my other cousin, Craig.
As well as Easter, it was Aunty Deirdre’s birthday. She apparently made a hummingbird cake and Mum of course had one of her cake moments.

After lunch, it was time to go and look at the house that Mum and Dad are looking at moving into in the next few months and then back to the unit by 2:30pm.
While it was a great day, everyone is worried about my brother, Ben, whose appendix burst the other day (in the damn Frankston hospital) and who is having complications following the operation. He has refused to go back to Frankston (I do not blame him) and is currently in a Melbourne hospital undergoing tests to see what the problem is. Max has let us know this morning that he has a pocket of fluid in the appendix site, obviously an infection, and they’re trying to find a way to remove it safely.
So I guess if it doesn’t rain, it pours, and that it’s possible I was right and that the Mornington Peninsula is cursed.
