Another day trip for Mum today. It’s so exciting to see her regain some semblance of her normal life.
The wheelchair taxi picked Mum up from the Prince Charles this morning at 9:45 (it’s like Tie Me Kangeroo Down, sport, says Mum, but what’s being tied down is my wheelchair). We naturally decided it was Tie Me Wheelchair Down, sport without the racist verses from the original song. Lucky for the driver of the wheelchair taxi, we didn’t decide to sing.
Mum says the wheelchair taxi is a bit special and she’d like Dad to buy one. I’ll leave that decision up to Dad.

The last few days Mum has been asking for a haircut and a manicure. Her hair and nails are both getting too long and she was hoping to get them done properly. A hospital hairdresser came through last night and cut Mum’s hair for $25 and today we took her to Brookside for a manicure. Because of her chair, she couldn’t have a spa pedicure but she could have her toenails cut and painted and was pretty happy with that.

I had a spa pedicure at the same time. Great mother/daughter bonding.

After the manicure, Mum met friends at the local café for tea and cake. I hate to say it but, with Mum’s new sweet tooth and her impulse issues, no cake in the café was safe. After a lovely chat and an extraordinary volume of cake and scones, it was time to take Mum back to the hospital.

Thanks so much to Annie, Jane P, Sally and Sandy for coming along. It’s wonderful to get Mum out of the hospital and doing some of the things she liked to do before the stroke.
