Mum passed away peacefully in the early hours of 13 December 2023.
While I haven’t revisited this blog in many years, it seemed appropriate to post one final entry to bookend a long, difficult, painful but in many ways rewarding road over the last nine years.
Mum managed to make it to her 80th birthday (even if she did spend it in intensive care). But, in the end, the accumulated damage to her body was just too much. Even for somebody with her fighting spirit, who loved life and didn’t want to leave.
While this is a time of sadness and grief for all of us, I’ll always have the memory of how painful Mum was there at the end. After everything she went through, I can wish nothing more for her than that.
I love you, Mum. I’ll miss you.
