The surgery seems to have been a success: the blockage is cleared and Mum should be able to pass the stones normally now she has the stent in. She does still have kidney stones, though, and if they don’t pass normally in a few weeks then we will be looking at more invasive surgery then. That is definitely something we’re hoping to avoid.
Aunty Deirde and Dad (Lance) report that Mum is bright this morning and, despite feeling a bit banged up from surgery, is significantly improved from last night. They’re discussing putting her back on the blood thinners quite quickly too, which will take some of the weight off our minds.
For those who want to visit etc, she is in Surgical Ward 2, Bed 33 of the Townsville Hospital and will be there for the rest of the weekend at least.
