Mum moved to rehab today and is now in bed 20A of the Gunnamatta Ward at the Mornington Centre. We had a family meeting with Mum’s health team at the hospital this morning and were very reassured that Mum’s fatigue and general listlessness are normal and can last for several weeks.
No word yet on an infection but Mum’s disorientation seems to have gone and we’re pretty sure her confusion yesterday was just because of the stroke and exhaustion.
One dampening fact this morning was that the resident neurologist reminded us that Mum has had an extremely severe stroke. Her right brain damage is extensive and we can’t be assured of significant improvement from rehab.
Early days and day-by-day and all that jazz. This next week will be one of assessment. I’ll still update daily but it may be a few days before I have concrete news. At least Mum is out of acute care and has entered the next phase of her treatment.
