Unfortunately, we’ve had a bit of a reverse today. For the last few days, Mum has been extremely tired and far less conversational than usual and we’ve been assured this is normal. However, today Mum became even more unresponsive and even listless and we’re now concerned she does have an infection of some kind. The unit is testing her for a urinary tract infection.
I don’t want to worry anybody with this news but this afternoon she was hallucinating; convinced there were dogs in the ward and that Deirdre’s dogs were lying on her legs. Apparently stroke victims with urinary tract infections can hallucinate, which is why they’re testing her for that. Mum is scheduled to go to the Peninsula Health Rehab Facility in Mornington tomorrow morning but we’re all a bit concerned about that now.
As I’ve said before, this is something we have to tackle day by day and we have an extremely long road ahead of us. I’ll publish an update as soon as we find out the results of the urine test.
