Mum had a quiet weekend after her lignocaine treatment this week; being understandably tired after five infusions of an anaesthetic. She does report pain reduction after the treatment but unfortunately the neuropathic pain hasn’t been completely eliminated. Considering the varied evidence on a lignocaine infusion’s efficacy that’s probably not surprising but it’s still a little disappointing.
One thing that happened while Mum was being infused was that the family home in Brisbane was packed and uplifted in preparation for Dad to move into the Townsville house. The furniture arrived at the house on Saturday. Mum got a leave pass to see the house being furnished. Aunty Deirdre provided the food for everyone and Geoff and Marie came around to help with the unpack as well. All report they’re very happy with how the house looks with their furniture in it and it’s certainly move livable than the “behemoth” was for somebody in a wheelchair.
Mum’s rehab recommences today and we’ll see for sure whether the lignocaine treatment was worth the week off. Considering Mum’s escalating neuropathic pain and the fact she can’t tolerate barely any oral pain medication, my opinion is that it was at least worth the try.
